Personnel of Ko & Associates completed the design of over 2,300 linear feet of a gravel/cobble bed stream and an associated tributary in the Piedmont physiographic province of the Cape Fear River Basin. The project is located in a rural setting through abandoned pasture lands. The proposed channel was designed as a C4 type stream that reconnects bankfull and higher flows to the historic floodplain. Rock Cross Vanes, Rock Vanes, and Rootwads were used in the design to reduce near bank stress, to ensure bedform diversity, and as a means of grade control. Construction was completed in the winter of 2006.
