Personnel of Ko & Associates completed the design of over 2,300 linear feet of a gravel/cobble bed stream in the Piedmont physiographic province of the Cape Fear River Basin. The project is located in a rural setting through abandoned pasture lands. The proposed channel was designed as a C4 type stream that reconnects bankfull and higher flows to the historic floodplain. Rock Cross Vanes, Log Vanes, J-Hook Vanes, and Root Wads were used in the design to reduce near bank stress, to ensure bedform diversity, and as a means of grade control. Construction was completed in the winter of 2005. Responsibilities included design and bid administration.
