US 421 - NC 87 SANFORD BYPASS

  In 2003, Ko & Associates was selected by the North Carolina Department of Transportation to prepare final construction plans for the proposed US 421 – NC 87 Bypass of Sanford.
The project is 3.7 miles in length. This major rural arterial, part of the strategic corridor plan in this area of the state, provides a bypass of the rapidly developing Sanford area for safe and efficient transportation alternatives. The project consisted of a four-lane divided facility on new location with a half clover interchange at the northern terminus near the Cape Fear River.
Ko & Associates’ was responsible for roadway and hydraulic design and traffic control and pavement marking plans.
