Ko & Associates has been selected by the Bridge Maintenance Unit of the North Carolina Department of Transportation for the bi-annual municipal bridge inspection program in the years 2000, 2002, and 2004. In order to meet FHWA requirements, Bridge Maintenance hires consultants on behalf of the municipalities to inspect all of the city-owned structures in the state every two years. The inspections include a field evaluation, full color reports with condition photos and repair recommendations, as well as a structural rating analysis.
Ko & Associates inspected 104 structures in 2000, 114 in 2002, and 116 in 2004.
In addition to the municipal inspections in 2002, Ko & Associates also inspected 61 state-owned bridges in Beaufort County, NC. These structures, normally inspected by state personnel, were assigned to us because the state did not have the resources to complete the inspections within the required time frame.
