DESIGN-BUILD OF I-77 NBL IMPROVEMENTS

  In February 2005, the Design-Build team of APAC Atlantic, Inc. – Asheville Division, with Ko & Associates as the lead designer, was awarded the contract to add a northbound lane on I-77 and make lane improvements on the Gilead Road northbound exit ramp.
The contractor's bid of $5,995,000 combined with the team's technical score of 94, resulting in an additional quality credit of 20%, won the project for the Design-Build team. Ko & Associates will provide roadway and hydraulic design, signing, traffic control, pavement marking and erosion control plans and project administration.
